2015 Pretzel Polka Run/Walk

The Randy Schopen “Give Someone A Chance” Foundation, JCF will be holding a Run/Walk Saturday, September 19th. This family friendly event will take place in conjunction with Gemuetlichkeit Days and will be held at the Jefferson County Fair Park. All proceeds from the event will go to The Randy Schopen Foundation grant program.

Event Information

Date: Saturday, September, 19th, 2015

Location: Gemuetlichkeit Days, Jefferson County Fair Park, 503 North Jackson Ave., Jefferson, WI

Time: 9:00 AM

Check In And On Site Registration: 7:30 AM - 8:30 AM, Saturday, September 19th

Stay after the event for a full lineup of Gemuetlichkeit Days activities!

 

There will be in person registration at Capn's Roadhouse on Wednesday, August 26th from 4:00 pm - 8:00 pm.

The Run

The 5K fun run will start and finish at the Jefferson County Fair Park. The run will be timed and awards will be presented to the top three male and female finishers.

The Walk

The two mile walk, which starts and finishes at the Jefferson County Fair Park, will be fun for all ages.

What Is A “Zero K”?

Want to help The Randy Schopen Foundation but running or walking isn’t your thing? By registering for the 0K option you’ll get all the cool stuff including a free beer (must be 21 or over), the event t-shirt, and all the free “swag” that is normally reserved for only the runners and walkers.  You will also get the satisfaction of knowing that you are helping to make your community a better place. 

The day of the event all the 0K participants will line up at the starting line and walk over to the beer tent for their free beer.

Register Early!

If you register before Tuesday, September 1st registration is only:

  • $30 per Runner

  • $20 per Walker

  • $20 per 0K Participant

On or after Tuesday, September 1st registration is:

  • $35 per Runner

  • $25 per Walker

  • $25 per 0K Participant

Every registration includes a free beer (must be 21 or over), the event t-shirt, and all the free “swag.” Any registrations on or after Tuesday September 1st will not be guaranteed a t-shirt.

Parking

Ample parking will be available at the Jefferson County Fair Park.

$500 Grant Awarded To FISH

$500 Grant Awarded To FISH

The Randy Schopen Foundation awarded a $500 grant to FISH this week. FISH helps those, in the city of Jefferson, who need transportation for medical purposes and cannot otherwise get there. They also provide the meals on wheels drivers with a minimal check, at Christmas, in appreciation for their time and gas for delivering meals to shut-ins all year long. $1,000 Grant Awarded To The Jefferson County Cancer Coalitions

The Randy Schopen Foundation, JCF awarded a $1,000 grant to The Jefferson County Cancer Coalition for their WIGS Program. This program was created to give individuals that cannot afford a wig a chance to obtain one and see themselves with confidence and a positive attitude. The program serves any person residing in Jefferson County that is actively seeking cancer treatment and is in need of a wig, due to hair loss from treatment of cancer. The Jefferson County Cancer Coalition is partnering with Studio 8, Fort Atkinson, for this project.

Capn's Stockholder's Meeting Annual Fundraiser - Christmas Eve

Capn's Roadhouse and The Randy Schopen Foundation will be holding our annual fundraiser on Christmas Eve. The proceeds will benefit The Randy Schopen Foundation and Tomorrow's Hope.

Location: Capn's Roadhouse

Date: December 24th, Christmas Eve

Time: Noon - 3:00 pm

The "Annual Stockholder's Meeting" is open to the public. There will be a live and silent auction, raffles, and food/drinks for purchase. If you have some time between your other holiday festivities stop out to Capn's Roadhouse for some holiday cheer, and help a great cause.

Auciton Items Needed

We are still in need of auction items. Large or small we'll take most anything. Some popular items are gift baskets, sports tickets or memrobelia, gift certificats, last minute holiday gifts.

Help us continue Randy's legacy of helping others, and "giving someone a chance." Randy took great pride in his hometown of Jefferson, Jefferson County, southern Wisconsin, and surrounding communities. Anytime someone came to him for help he was always there to lend a hand. He spent countless hours helping local organizations, organizing benefits for those in need, and paying it forward. 

After Randy passed away in December of 2011 friends and family realized that the work Randy did needed to continue. The Randy Schopen Memorial Foundation, JCF was formed to support organizations, and those in need in Jefferson, Jefferson County, southern Wisconsin, and surrounding communities. Since the foundation was formed in December of 2011 over $67,000 in grants have been awarded to:

Randy Schopen Foundation Awards Grant To The Crossroads Pantry

The Randy Schopen Foundation awarded a $500 grant to The Crossroads Pantry. The Pantry exists to serve people and families on public assistance, as well as those families going through crisis or who haven't yet begun to receive public assistance.
